Tests of electric shock hazard at high and low voltage systems as well as tests of fire protection systems


Specialist teams of our company carry out:

  • Tests of electric shock hazard, that may appear in case of short circuits with the participation of the earth in electrical installations,
  • Tests of lightning protection systems protecting people and devices from danger resulting from lightning discharges.

We carry out tests of electric shock hazard:

  • at high voltage systems (i.e. at the systems of voltage higher than 1 kV AC),
  • at low voltage systems (i.e. at the systems of voltage up to 1 kV AC).

In the scope of tests of electric shock hazard at systems (devices) of voltage from 110 kV to 750 kV we carry out among other things:

  • measurements of electric shock touch voltages at the electric devices and at their neighbourhood, that may appear during 1-phase short circuits to the earth, at the tested devices,
  • measurements of earth voltage at the earthing of the devices tested,
  • measurements of extension of earth-fault potential beyond the area of tested earthing systems.

In the scope of tests of electric shock hazard at systems (devices) of voltage from 6 kV to 30 kV we carry out among other things:

  • measurements of electric shock touch voltages at the electric devices and at their neighbourhood, that may appear during 1-phase and 2-phase short circuits through the earth at the tested devices (in arrangements reflecting conditions of occurring maximal values of the earth current),
  • impedance measurements of circuits with the dual short circuits through the earth for tested devices, in order to determine the real currents of 2-phase short circuits through the earth for these devices,
  • measurements of earth voltages at the earthing of devices located outside of the main earthing system,
  • measurements of extension of earth-fault potential beyond the area of tested devices, including customers supplied with the 0,4 kV voltage from MV/0,4 kV substations.

In the scope of tests of electric shock protection systems at the devices of the voltage up to 1 kV, the following measurements are carried out:

  • measurements of efficiency of electric shock protection system operating by automatic switch-off of the electric devices during 1-phase short circuits in TN and TT networks,
  • measurements of efficiency of electric shock protection system operating by automatic switch-off of the electric devices during 2-phase short circuits to the earth in IT networks,
  • measurements of resistance of the service grounding and protective grounding of devices,
  • measurements of extension of earth-fault potential of service and protective grounding of MV/LV transformer with PE (PEN) wire to the tested device, during short circuits to the earth,
  • measurements of touch voltage in the area of tested device in case the quick automatic switch-off condition of the tested device is not fulfilled.

In the scope of tests of electric shock protection systems for buildings the following measurements are carried out:

  • determination of protective zones of the lightning rods of lightning protection system,
  • measurements of galvanic continuity of lightning protection system,
  • measurements of grounding resistance (with specialized instruments or with the voltage, current measurement method of AC current).
